WINSTONE is a fairly unusual surname, which is both a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing
because it's easy to read on microfiche, there aren't hundreds of entries to go through when you do find them, and because
there are fewer alternative spellings than with some surnames. It's a curse because very few people seem to be researching
it in the UK, so there isn't a lot of help coming from others! Having said that, a few people have been very, very helpful.
My wife Lynne and I emigrated to Canada in 1972, so my research is slow and difficult - it isn't
easy from 3000 miles away, and very few relatives are really interested in tracing their ancestors.
My branch of the WINSTONE tree is located in Walsall, Staffordshire, in the Midlands of England, where my father
was born. I came across many Winstone's in Gloucestershire, but had no known family connection to there. After about
4 years looking I found a link to the Chedworth / Cirencester area, and so the hunt continues. There is a village named
Winstone in Gloucestershire but there were no Winstone's actually living there when we visited, at least not according to
the telephone book.
About the other pages of our Website.
The major family names I am actively researching at this moment are WINSTONE, STEPTOE, MEDHURST,
and BIDDULPH. I hope to move on to ALLSOPP and GUNTER later.
There are three pages dedicated to each family.
The first page is for linked surnames - take a look, your name may be in there and hey, we may be
related!.
The second page is for a descendant tree - exported from Family Tree Maker;
The third page is for any COA's (Coats of Arms) I have found for that surname.
Thanks for looking, please, PLEASE, PLEASE - take a minute to sign the guest book

Us, John and Lynne Winstone - 2002 |
Our branch of the WINSTONE family is small and dwindling, so I want to trace and record as much as I possibly can.
I hope to be able to hand it on to some other WINSTONE researchers who are related, and who are interested
enough to continue the search..

Check out the pages of COA's on the navigation bar. These are all the Coats of Arms that we
have found, so far.
Many of the Coats of Arms on this site were gotten from; HERALDRY BY THE ONE EYED OWL
I highly recommend his services to anyone, he has been a tremendous resource for me.
